The UPR Products sales crew and trailer set up last week at arguably the premier drag strip in the country, Summit Motorsports Park.
It was extra special for two reasons. First, The track was closed for the 2020 season due to severe Covid restrictions.
And second, our reigning Limited Street champion Bill Putnam was competing in the carryover St. Louis final and had the opportunity to double up in the actual Norwalk event.
So Friday evening Bill lined up with competitor Chad Wendell for the St. Louis final and squeeked by for the win with an 8.44 to 8.50 victory.
Saturday saw a good spectator turnout and sales were brisk. We sold quite a few UPR chromemoly K-member kits and Pro Series rear suspension packages.
It was great saying hi to all our Ohio friends and customers.
Sunday was hot and humid and the racing surface was challenging at times. But UPR's resident chassis tuner Sharad Raldiris was up to the task and kept Bills' x275 Mickey Thompson radials planted through eliminations. Bill drove consistently and ended up with another win with an 8.53 @ 160mph in the final.
This weekend it was very noticeable what a great job NMRA did in rulesmaking to insure an even field, with the many power combinations found in the class.
UPR will be keeping its sales trailer in Ohio for our "northern swing" as we'll be at Martin, Michigan on July 22-25.
And then we'll be returning to Summit Motorsports Park on August 7 for the "Night Under Fire" event. This event is billed as the biggest one day event in drag racing.
If you can only make one event - this is the one. There is something for everyone from John Force and several top Funny Cars, Top Fuel dragsters, Nitro motorcycles, jet dragsters and, course Bob Motz and his J-79 jet semi truck. Top it off with the awesome Bader Signature Firework show for an incredible experience.
